While working at The Mitchells Agency during my summer internship, one of our most active clients was FBMC. This insurance broker utilized LinkedIn to display their expertise and portray themselves as thought leaders. I, along with The Mitchells Agency's COO, Social Media Manager, and other Junior Content Marketer, worked to find external articles about employee benefits. I curated the articles and once approved by FBMC, drafted and perfected copy before scheduling posts in Sprout Social. From employee recruitment to retirement to pet insurance, I learned a lot about benefits before I joined the team. While I am not an expert in many fields, delving deep into research better informed me on what type of content would be most appropriate for this client. Below are the final posts from FBMC Benefits Management.
Even though the COVID-19 pandemic stopped in-person viewings at All Saints Cinema, it couldn't stop the creativity of John Fraser for setting up the Virtual Cinema and me for marketing these films. Before the pandemic, most of my posts were centered around giving out the "who, what, when, where" details behind each film screening. I also included film reviews to give our customers some insight into the film being shown.
Educational and Artistic Background
This project draws not just on multiple modules in this class [Media, Culture, and the Environment], but also the podcast journal entry assignments. For all four podcast assignments, I listened to four separate episodes of “Mothers of Invention,” a climate podcast that features women across the world in the effort to fight climate change. One episode in particular featured young women with the intersection of age, gender, and race/ethnicity. This episode struck me because these women were around my age (if not younger), yet they were making great strides in their own communities to combat climate change. This podcast focuses heavily on environmental and climate justice. As someone who has individually tried to combat climate change through environmental education, reducing plastic use, and focusing on reusables, this podcast encouraged me to start thinking about how I could go beyond to make an impact.
